Choose the Responsible Hawaii Office
Hawaii uses state-operated community correctional centers for the jail layer, police departments for short-term holding, and separate federal and immigration systems. The office that created the record is the best place to ask about it. No single facility address can answer a statewide question. Use the official channels below and check each agency’s live directory for current numbers, hours, and service details.
- DCR custody or parole search: use Hawaiʻi SAVIN and its VINELink route. Live help and registration are available at 1-877-846-3444, with TTY access at 1-866-847-1298.
- DCR correctional record: consult the DCR frequently called numbers, then submit a request under UIPA to the DCR office that maintains the record. The Office of Information Practices forms include the model Request to Access a Government Record under HRS chapter 92F.
- Parole result or discharge: use the Hawaiʻi Paroling Authority for minimum-term, parole, revocation, and discharge records.
- Probation or court order: locate the case and the right circuit through the Hawaiʻi Judiciary eCourt Kōkua gateway. The sentencing court, not HPA, governs probation.
- Police-only holding: choose the island or county in the County Directory and contact the police records unit that handled the arrest episode.
- Federal custody: use the BOP Inmate Locator. A Hawaii case may involve FDC Honolulu or a federal institution elsewhere.
- Immigration custody: use the ICE Online Detainee Locator. For a missing result, ICE lists its Detention Reporting and Information Line at 1-888-351-4024 with weekday operator hours on the locator page.
